Alvin G. Hussar, 83, of Warren, Ohio, entered into peaceful rest on Sunday morning, Jan. 9, 2022, at his home with the loving care of his family by his side. Alvin was born on Aug. 9, 1938, in Charleroi, the son of the late George and Anna Pobak Hussar. On Oct. 28, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Dolores Elaine Dorcon, and together they shared 60 years of marriage with many wonderful memories; raising their children, collecting antiques and watching their family grow. Alvin moved from Belle Vernon to the Warren area in 1965. A 1956 graduate of Bellmar High School, Alvin was inducted into the Belle Vernon Area Football Hall of Fame in 2009. After high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Marines Corps, where he qualified as a sharpshooter and served his country as a drill instructor on the rifle range of Camp Lejeune, N.C. He retired from General Motors Lordstown Division in 2003 after 38 dedicated years of service. Alvin was a genuine Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. He was a longtime member of St. Pius X and St. Cyril Methodius Catholic Parishes. Alvin enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia and woodworking, notably building many unique styles of bird houses, but above all, he loved spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Dolores Hussar; three daughters, Angie (Rick) Warzala, Lisa (Angelo) Lerakis and Jodi (Greg) Fridley, all of Warren; sister, Shirley (David) Granato of Coal Center; brother, Larry Hussar of Belle Vernon; grandchildren, Gannon Fridley and Alena Lerakis, both of Warren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents. A private Mass of Christian burial with Father Christopher Cicero officiating was held and attended by his family. Interment took place in All Souls Cemetery, Bazetta Township, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to CARL W. HALL FUNERAL HOME, Warren, Ohio.
