Shirley A. Cowen, 89, of Fallowfield Township, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan.14, 2022, in Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late George and Pauline Collett Moore, she was born in East Millsboro on Aug. 4, 1932. Formerly of California, Pa., she resided in Fallowfield Township for the past 62 years. In the mid-1950s, Shirley was a medical secretary at the former Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Cowen of Columbus, Ohio; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Cowen of Fallowfield Township and Scott and Susan Cowen of Perryopolis; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dale and Sophie Moore of Florida and Gerald Moore of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Justin Cowen, Jennifer (Zack) Ramey, Sarah (Frank) Novotny, Jessica (Cody) Montgomery, Steven (Clare) Cowen, Ann Marie (Jesse) Scanga, Emily (Brandon) Luke and Frances (William) Cathers; and five great-grandchildren, Steffanie Dean, Scarlet Cathers, Penny Ramey, Zedah Montgomery and William Cathers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Laird Cowen, on Oct. 15, 2017. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. Funeral services will begin at noon on Tuesday with Pastor Petke officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Creek Cemetery, Charleroi.
