Karen E. Ermlich – Elco
Karen E. Ermlich, 83, of Elco, passed on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, at UPMC Presbyterian. Born in Elco on June 1, 1938, a daughter of William Barr and Sara Harriet Davenport Kennedy, Karen was a graduate of California High School. She was always a worker, starting at the age of 16. Karen retired as head cook after 29 years at California High School. She was Methodist by faith. Karen belonged to multiple card clubs in the area and enjoyed going to the Meadows. She especially enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Michelle and her family in North Huntingdon. Karen is survived by six children, David L. (Robin) Scrip Jr. of Monongahela, Kimberly (Michael) Kennedy of Fallowfield Township, Kathy (Frank) Barber of Pleasantville, Michelle (John) Masten of North Huntingdon, Dana Rae Baker of Fayette City and Susan E. (Peter) Willis of Jacksonville, Fla.; 16 grandchildren, Sheena (Rian) Caldwell, Brandon (Chrissy) Barber, Chad Kennedy, Cally Masten, Zachary (Justina) Kennedy, Rebecca Scrip, Cody, Olivia and Noah Masten, Amanda (David) Engel, Shaun (Angela) Baker, Stephanie Baker-Espejo (Jesus), Ada Willis, Elizabeth (Nathan) Bugbee, Kelly (George) Erdel and James and Stephen Stewart; and 15 great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Alexis and Shaun James (SJ) Baker, Marco, Lilly and Jullian Espejo, James Willis, Morgan Bugbee, Samuel, Grace, Thomas Erdel, Logan, Benjamin and Finn Caldwell and Harper Barber. Also surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Kay Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Ermlich, a brother and sister-in-law Ray and Joann Kennedy; and step-daughter Barbara Stewart. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, with Pastor Daniel Grimes.
