Thomas Panepinto – Pittsburgh

By obits

Thomas Panepinto, 70, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, after courageously battling pancreatic cancer. Tom is survived by his wife, Dyann Redlich Panepinto and son, Nicholas Panepinto (Chris Helzerman). He was preceded in death by parents, Anthony “Tony” and Amelia “Millie” Gallo Panepinto. Tom was born Jan. 29, 1951, in Monessen. After graduating from Monessen High School in 1968, he went on to study at the University of Pittsburgh, where he was a member of the AEKDM fraternity. Living up to their KE pledge, many of the brothers that he met over 50 years ago provided needed encouragement and support throughout his recent illness. In 1972, Tom married Dyann Panepinto. Tom and Dyann went on to have one son, Nicholas, who was his father’s pride and joy. Tom and Dyann shared a 50-year partnership that was filled with love, travel, delicious meals, laughter with dear friends and family and just a few bottles of bourbon and wine. Tom was a jack of all trades. His jobs spanned from house parent at a residential group home to a marketing research computer programmer and to a voice and data system technician. He spent the majority of his career as a construction foreman. From installing massive water lines to miniature data cables, he was known for the pride and attention to detail he put into all his work, as well the support he gave to fellow coworkers. Tom played volleyball for over 25 years with the Human Services Volleyball League (HSVL). Whether on the court or in the bar afterwards, he was friends with everyone. Many will remember Tom as being one of the most genuine and kind persons they knew. It can honestly be said that he didn’t have an enemy in this world. Consistent with his calm demeanor, he also loved nothing more than to spend tranquil hours trout fishing in the streams of the Laurel Mountains. During his retirement, together with his wife, he was a frequent volunteer for 412 Food Rescue. As much as he loved to cook and eat, he found even greater joy in helping to ensure others didn’t go hungry. In his memory, donations may be made to 412 Food Rescue. https://412foodrescue.org/donate/. Arrangements are entrusted to BRUSCO- FALVO FUNERAL HOME INC., Mt. Washington, Pittsburgh. A private celebration of life memorial is being planned. Friends and family will be notified once it has been scheduled, www.bruscofalvo.com.
