Douglas “Dog” S. Matson, 51, of North Belle Vernon, passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at his home. Born May 30, 1970, in North Charle- roi, he was the son of the late Bruce Matson Sr.  and Veronica Komperda Matson, who survives and resides in North Belle Vernon. A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area, Douglas was a local handyman and landscaper. He enjoyed listening to classic rock music, playing his bass guitar, and was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Douglas was a very gentle soul who was a happy-go-lucky person with a good heart. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Jeanette Matson of Belle Vernon; niece, Kaitlin Gorzelsky and husband Adam Gorzelsky; nephew, Nicholas Matson and wife Paige Matson; great-nephew, Landon Gorzelsky; great-nieces, Lorelei and Iris Gorzelsky; and his dog, Gizmo. A private memorial service was held at Journey by Grace with Pastor Heather Goodwin as officiant. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929- 6183.
