Robert Jay Hoffman, 85, of Rostraver Township, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2022. Born in McKeesport on Dec. 23, 1936, he was the son of the late Robert Jay Hoffman Sr. and Mary Frances Purden McCall. Robert was a maintenance manager for Vista Metals in Elizabeth and was a member of Central Highlands United Methodist Church in Elizabeth. He was a member of Polaris Lodge No. 375 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Syria Shriners, where he participated as a clown, and the Ashtabula Boat Restoration Project. He was very involved in Boy Scouts of America and was a past member of the Buena Vista VFD and the Rostraver Central VFD. He was a member of the Youngwood Railroad Club, and his hobby was building railroad trains, even a garden train. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy. Robert was very giving of his time and loved spending time with family and friends and was the “Mr. Fix It” for anyone who needed help. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Whittington Hoffman; children, Debra Mae (David) Zora of Rostraver, Jay William (Lara) Hoffman of Memphis, Tenn., Robert Whittington (Amy) Hoffman of Rostraver, and David Girard (Jamie) Hoffman of Rostraver; grandchildren, Jayson Hoffman, Derek Hoffman, Jonathan Zora, Sarah Zora, Brady Hoffman, Logan Hoffman, Madison Hoffman, Austin Hoffman and Connor Hoffman; great-granddaughters, Aubrey Rose and Avery Rain; and nieces and nephews, Scott Smith, Susan Fowler, Timothy McGrail, Sean McGrail, Karen Kardos, Gail Struble and Sandy Ward. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Denney. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery.
