John Nicholas Kurty – Charleroi

John Nicholas Kurty, 74, of Charleroi, passed away on Dec. 30, 2021, in his home. Born in Charleroi on Jan. 3, 1947, John is the son of the late Frank and Rose Schlinski Kurty. John served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service to our country, he worked for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, Allenport Works, Boiler House, until his retirement. Catholic by faith, he was also a member of American Legion Post 22 in Charleroi. John enjoyed going out to eat and spending time with his girlfriend of over 14 years, Sandy. In addition to his longtime girlfriend, Sandy Tustin; John is survived by his sister, Clara Clemens; nephew, Daniel Clemens; his niece, Kimberly Clemens; and Sandy’s daughter, Shelly Cowart and her two children, Billy and Colette Cowart. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Steven Patrick Kurty. At John’s request, all services will be held privately for family only, and private interment will occur at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Arrangements have been entrusted to HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC. (formerly Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home), 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022.
