Michael J. Spadafore, 83, of Monessen, passed away on Thursday Dec. 30, 2021, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born on Jan. 15, 1938, in North Charleroi, son of the late Alfred L. and Ann Maranich Spadafore. Mike was a lifelong resident of Monessen, a 1956 graduate of Monessen High School and retired from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation. Following his retirement, he attained his real estate license and sold real estate for several years. He was a member of numerous clubs throughout the Mon Valley and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike served his country as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diane M. Coccari Spadafore; two daughters, Debra (Brian) Sauritch of Fayette City and Michele Bair of Monessen; stepson, James Biondi of Monessen; three grandsons, Robert Novakovich, Gene Bair and Anthony Biondi; great-grandson, Aiden Novakovich; three sisters, Nancy Moussiaux, Shirley (Ronald) Novakovich and Jean (James) Matson; two brothers-in-law, Kevin M. (Cindy) Coccari and Robert (Joni) Coccari; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Bellone Spadafore; his mother and father-in-law, Betty and Robert Coccari; and a son-in-law, Gene Bair. At Mike’s request, there will not be any viewing and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
