Gizel Legros – Stockdale
Gizel Legros, 94, of Stockdale, lost her courageous battle on Dec. 21, 2021. Gizel passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Monongahela. She was an avid swimmer, bowler and euchre player, as well as a Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins hockey fan. She loved college football, especially Pitt, Penn State and Notre Dame. She enjoyed spending many hours boating on the Monongahela River and loved spending time with family and friends. Gizel, aka Mimi, was known for her love, kindness, generosity and gentle spirit. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed sharing with family. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend. A devoted Catholic, she prayed the Rosary many times a day. Gizel will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Gizel is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne and Bill Waller of Roscoe, and Diane and Dennis Koneffko of Stockdale; seven grandchildren, Renee (Scott) Baciak from Rostraver Township, Zach Koneffko from Lake Tahoe, Calif., Nicole (Michael) Mendicino from Celebration, Fla., Jayson (Desarae) Legros of Monongahela, Ian Legros of Newport, R.I., Franschesca Legros Ennis (Adam) of East Millsboro and Tyler Legros of East Millsboro; great-grandchildren, Maddie and Sydney Baciak and Michael, Corinne and Kate Mendicino; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Gizel was preceded in death by her husband, JB Legros; her twin sons, John and Jay Legros; brothers, Mike, Paul, Adam, George, Henry and John; and sisters, Fran and Helen. Per Gizel’s wishes, no public funeral services will be held. A private memorial celebration will take place at a later date.
