Albert Louis ‘Skip’ Baker – Belle Vernon

Albert Louis “Skip” Baker, 80, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, in Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Albert and Rosalie Tutino Baker, he was born on Feb. 20, 1941, in North Charleroi. Albert lived most of his adult life in Belle Vernon where he belonged to St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, the Belle Vernon Fire Company, since 1974, the Belle Vernon Moose Lodge and the Belle Vernon American Legion. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed camping with his family and coffee with his buddies at Wendy’s. Albert worked at the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant, as an overhead crane operator for 38 years, retiring in 2000. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Josephine “Alice” Gallagher Baker; a daughter, Lori L. Downes of Belle Vernon; four sons and two daughters-in-law, William Baker of Belle Vernon, Jeffrey and Grace Baker of Hiram, Ga., Daniel Baker of Belle Vernon, and David and Michele Baker of South Park; five grandchildren, Melissa Downes, Noah Scott Baker, Nathaniel Jon Baker, Joshua Baker and Hannah Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brandi Lynn Stefanick; and a sister, Bonnie Gust. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A blessing service will be in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Michael Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
