Troy Emerson Mitchell – Liberty Borough
Troy Emerson Mitchell, 58, of Liberty Borough, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Nov. 20, 1963, in Pittsburgh, the son of Emerson Eugene and Donna Gertrude Heslep Mitchell. Troy was a 1982 graduate of Bethel Park High School and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he trained in criminal justice. He was employed for 10 years at the Federal Reserve System in Pittsburgh, where he retired as a sergeant. He was a part-time police officer at Liberty Borough for over 20 years and a full-time police officer at Magee Women’s Hospital for eight years. He also worked for various other police departments. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Allegheny County Lodge No. 91, the OMNI F&AM Lodge No. 582 of Dravosburg and a life member of the NRA, where he became a certified law enforcement firearm instructor. Troy had various additional certifications in supervisory and tactical training. He is survived by his wife, Melinda Warszawski Mitchell, with whom he celebrated 23 years of marriage on June 12, 2021; son, Troy Mitchell Jr., at home; cousin, Lugene Calderone and family of Upper St. Clair; uncle, Jerry Ermlich and family of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Miller and husband John of Cranberry and their children, Allison and Ryan and fiancee Stephanie, Julie Warszawski and fiance’ Mike Wilson of Baldwin; several other cousins; and his loving dog, Bear. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sherral Mitchell; two aunts, Laverna Calderone and Joann Ermlich; paternal grandparents, Anthony and Catherine Mitchell; maternal grandparents, Donald and Gertrude Heslep. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, with the Rev. Timothy Tipton officiating. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 400 Jefferson Ave., Washington, PA 15301.
