Violet A. Musser, 82, of Monongahela, Ginger Hill, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021, in Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. Born July 3, 1939, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of William and Violet Mae Swint Coulter. A homemaker, Violet worked for many years as a clerk at the former Healthmart, Thrift and Eckerd Drug Stores in Monongahela until her retirement. Violet enjoyed needlepoint, crossword puzzles, playing cards, baking and especially Sunday lunches with her family. Methodist by faith, she had also been a member of the Ginger Hill Grange. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, James M. Musser, whom she married March 7, 1959; two sons, Stephen (Shari) Musser of Eighty Four and Daniel J. (Jennifer) Musser of Monongahela, Ginger Hill; three daughters, Sandra (Dan) Armstrong of Wheeling, W.Va.; Deborah Zyra of Monongahela, Ginger Hill, and Jamie Lynn (Michael) Dunn of Moon Township; a brother, Henry (Doris) Austin of Butler; nine grandchildren, Casey (Tom), Tanner, Baylee, Mackenzie, Madison, Hannah, Camryn, Sydney and Hayden; a great-grandson, Julian; and a sister-in-law, Carol Casler of Richmond, Va. A private memorial service will be held Dec. 18, 2021, and interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Violet to her favorite charities, Special Olympics and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
