Robert A. Damico, 83, of Oakmont, formerly of Monongahela, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, in his home. Born March 15, 1938, in Monongahela (Cracker Jack), he was the son of Pietro and Philomena Damiani D’Amico. After his graduation in 1956 from Monongahela High School, Bob played semi-pro football for the Southside Merchants until 1961. He worked for over 35 years as a machinist for Corning Glass Co. in Charleroi until his retirement in 1998 and then for several more years worked as a bus driver for the Charleroi School District. An avid Pittsburgh sports fan, Bob excelled in sports while in school, especially soccer and football. Bob’s three most important interests include his grandchildren, working on any kind of machinery and a love of old cars. He was the proud owner of a 1957 Chevy. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish (formerly St. Anthony) in Monongahela. Surviving are his wife, Christine Flokas Damico, whom he married Jan. 9, 1960; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Terry Damico of Lower Burrell; a daughter, Laura L. Damico of Seminole, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jakob (Abby) Damico, Ross, Arianne and Justine Damico; three great-grandchildren, Chloe, Penelope and Theo Damico; a brother-in-law, Delfo DiGregorio of Monessen; along with several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were a brother, Nick D’Amico, who died March 6, 2012; and a sister, Rose DiGregorio, who died Nov. 19, 2019. Friends will be received at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Blessing prayers will begin in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish.
