David Vincent Godfrey, 47, of Monessen, formerly of Donora, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 22, 2021. He was born to his beloved parents, Dennis Vincent Godfrey and Nancy Christine Meek, on Nov. 4, 1974. Dave had a creative and unique soul with a big heart for his family and friends. His passions were an essential part of his life, especially music. As a talented bass player, Dave performed with multiple bands all over southwestern Pennsylvania. He loved going to music festivals, creating songs and listening to music all day long. Dave also loved gardening and creating beautiful landscapes. He loved spending time with his family, especially at the annual family reunion in Deep Creek, Md. Dave is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Nancy Meek Godfrey; and his grandparents, Robert and Beatrice Meek and Eugene and Della Godfrey. He is survived by his father, Dennis Godfrey; sister, Rachel Godfrey and brother, Christopher Godfrey; and by his cousins, who to him were considered siblings, Tonya Blair, Heather (Dusty) Moore, Darryl Johnson, Jennifer (Timothy) Carter, Kenny (Julie) Johnson, Ashely (Stewart) Wood, Bradley (Cherry) Meek, Samantha (Jason) Glarner, Jacob Meek, Taylor Meek, Catherine Meek, David (Linda) Loving, James (Nila) Loving, Amanda Loving, Zachery Bennett and more. Dave is also survived by his chosen family, Denise Harrison, Doreen (Bill) Walters and Jennifer Hill. Per David’s request, there will be no public service, as he did not want others to mourn his death, but celebrate his life. David is truly a song that will never end. Arrangements have been entrusted to HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., Kirk Russell Melenyzer, Funeral Director, Charleroi. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.hogan-melenyzer.com.
