Robert Francis Reed, 83, of McKeesport, passed away on Nov. 17, 2021, due to heart failure. He is survived by Doreena Elliott, his loving companion of 34 years; and three sons, Shawn (Karen) of Coraopolis, Scott (Jill) of West Newton, and Brad (Melissa) of Monongahela. He is also survived by grandchildren, Hailee, Sean, Cody, Jessie and Connor; and three great-grandchildren, Sean, Owen and Maddy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis “Bricky” Reed and Rosanne Carr Reed of McKeesport and wife, Eileen Lewis Reed of Parkersburg, W.Va. Bob was a 1956 graduate of McKeesport High School and a member of the United States Air Force, serving in the Strategic Air Command as a military police officer from 1956 to 1962. His service to his country included appointments in Germany, England, Iceland and the United States. Following his military service, he worked in security and machinery operations. He was a proud member of the American Legion, AMVETS, Hibernians, 11th Ward Club and Sheriff’s Association. Throughout his life he maintained an interest in military and Irish history, woodcarving and drawing. There is no visitation. Arrangements are by GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131, 412-672-6322, Troy J. Gilbert, director. A private service and burial will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to either the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) or the Coraopolis Train Station Project (www.CoraopolisTrainStationProject.org).
