Mary L. Swantner, 91, of Monessen, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at Hallsworth House, Monessen. She was born on Sept. 7, 1930, in Monessen, daughter of the late Giovanni (John) and Grace Ascani Ciarrocchi. Mary was a graduate of Monessen High School and Westmoreland Community College with a degree in nursing. She was employed by Passavant Hospital, Jefferson Hospital, Washington Hospital and retired from Mon Valley Hospital in January of 1996. Mary was Catholic by faith and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church. She was also a member of the Mon Valley Nurses Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Anthony J. “Tony” Swantner, in 2008; two brothers, Rudy and John Cheroki; a nephew, T.J. Cheroki; and a sister-in-law, Delores Cheroki. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Kim (Tim Jones) Zubritsky of Greensburg, and Patricia (Roger) Francis of South Park; three granddaughters, Mallory (Benjamin) Zubritsky Newman of Cape Coral, Fla.; Dr. Lindsay (Dr. Jonathan) Zubritsky Pollock of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Lea Francis of South Park; great-granddaughter, Quinn Josephine Pollock; sister-in-law, Shirley Cheroki of Monongahela; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Services will be held Monday, beginning with a 9:30 a.m. blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. Those attending the visitation and services are kindly requested to wear a mask. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Dementia Society of America (www.dementiasociety.org). The family appreciates and would like to thank the staff of the Hallsworth House in Monessen, and ViaQuest staff for their wonderful care for Mary.
