Norma Jean Knight Carden, 86, of Finleyville, (Ginger Hill), went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, in her home. She was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Daisytown, daughter of Robert and Nellie Foster Knight. Norma was a member of Journey by Grace Church in Belle Vernon, where she was a former choir director and steward. She retired in 2004 with 29 years of employment as a legal secretary and paralegal for SWPA legal services. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Norma looked forward to the holidays and preparing dinner for her family. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great- grandchildren’s sports activities. She is survived by two daughters, Vickie (Mark) Law of Monongahela (Valley Inn) and Sandra (Jack) Simpson of Finleyville (Ginger Hill); son, James A. Carden, Sr. (her favorite) of Finleyville (Ginger Hill); nine grandchildren, Bunni (Jack) Cadwallader, Dan (Amber) Pietroboni, James A. (Brandy) Carden Jr., David L. Carden, Mark Law, Jerry (Pam) Simpson, Brendan Simpson, Kim (Mike) Dobbins and Mary (Bryan) Candella; 12 great-grandchildren, Danny Pietroboni, Seth and Kenny Cadwallader, Chance, Amira, Della and Lucas Carden, Keira Law, Regan, Allison, Nicholas and Melissa Candella; two brothers, Robert A. (Donna) Knight of Carnegie and Gary (Sharon) Knight of Dothan, Ala.; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack E. Carden, who died May 6, 2010; son, David L. “Slice” Carden; grandson, Gary Dean Seykoski Jr.; and two sisters, Nadine Morton and Inez Bewick. The family would like to thank 365 Hospice for the loving care that they extended to Norma. Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at Journey by Grace Church with the Rev. William Bailey officiating. Anyone attending the funeral service Saturday is asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be private in Monongahela Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Journey by Grace Church, 4803 State Route 51 N., Belle Vernon, PA 15012. Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
