Lois Jean Ward – Monessen

By obits

Lois Jean Ward, 79, formerly of Monessen, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021. Lois, the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Washington Ward, was born on Sept. 21, 1942. She is the seventh daughter of 15 children. She was born and raised in Monessen, where she attended Monessen High School and later moved to Detroit, Mich., with her father and siblings. Lois, like the rest of the family, had that special Ward humor. She had a way of making people feel comfortable in her presence. Lois was affectionately known as the “Cool Auntie.” She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy, Edna, Harriet, Betty, Minister Millie and Baby Girl Ward; and brothers, Edward Jr., Albert, Ernest, Herman, Boogie, Donald and Robert. She leaves a sister, Darlene Ward Pugh, to cherish her memories and share the Ward family stories; and many nieces, nephews and friends. The Ward family would like to give a special thank you to Lois’ caseworker, Angela Scott, Angela’s husband and family and to the Chapel of Peace Funeral Home in Columbus, Ohio, and funeral director, Marlan Gary, for all of their caring and support. The Thursday Prayer Group, which was organized by Minister Millie Thomas, will do a graveside memorial prayer on Friday, Nov. 19, beginning at 1 p.m. at Belle Vernon Cemetery.
