Marianne Z. McMahon MacBeth – Elizabeth Township

Marianne Z. McMahon MacBeth, age 80, of Elizabeth Township, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 16., 2021, at Grandview Estates, surrounded by her family. She retired as an English professor at California University of Pennsylvania and was a former professor at Duquesne University, the University of Pittsburgh, Greensburg and Community College of Allegheny County South Campus. She was a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Township, a director at the McKeesport Regional History & Heritage Center and a volunteer at UPMC McKeesport and Intersection in McKeesport. Born May 18, 1941, in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Helen O’Brien McMahon and wife of the late Louis A. MacBeth. She is survived by her daughters, Peggy (Greg) Platte of Elizabeth, Tara (Jeff) Gluscic of Greenock and Erin (John) Barch of Versailles; grandchildren, Katie (Phil) Swartzlander, Beth (Andrew) Hoover, Rob (Xiara Long) Platte, Ellie (Jarrett Booz) Platte, Sean (Patty) McDermott, Samantha McDermott, Melanie (Charles) Murdock and Lisa Gluscic; great-grandchildren, Allison and Lainey Swartzlander, Grace, Anna and Jack Hoover and Bailey McDermott; sister, Patsy McElhinny of Johnstown; as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and second husband, she was preceded in death by first husband, Carl “Herky” Zetler; and sister, Gerrie Murphy. Friends will be received in the PAUL E. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, 221 North Second Ave., Elizabeth on 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, A Mass of Christian burial will take place 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov.20, St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael Church with the Rev. Thomas A. Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township.
