Joseph F. Major, 80, of Donora, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021, at Select Specialty Hospital, McKeesport. He was born in Monessen on Oct. 29, 1941, a son of the late Patrick and Josephine Zborowsky Major. He was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. Mr. Major served as a North Belle Vernon policeman for 20 years and after retiring worked as a heavy machine operator with IMS for over 20 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Patrick Major and Richard Major. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce Hegedus Major; a son, Patrick J. Major of Rostraver; two grandchildren, Nicole (Matt) Sciore and Aaron Major; a great-granddaughter, Anna Sciore; a sister, Mary Jane Byron; and nieces, Jamie, Jennie and Jessie. Visitation will be private at the request of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial at noon at the Donora campus of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish.
