Harold Githens Lambert of New Freedom, Pa., formerly of Monongahela, passed away in his home with his family by his side on Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, at the age of 85. He was born Dec. 17, 1935, in Charleroi, to Harold B. Lambert and Sarah Edna Githens Lambert. Harold retired from Genco industries. He was a volunteer fireman for Carroll Township Volunteer Fire Department, Monongahela, and New Freedom Volunteer Fire Department, New Freedom, Pa. He loved being around his family and was a frequent attendee at Virginia Military Institute football games in Lexington, Va., where two of his grandsons attended and enjoyed observing them march in parade. He attended multiple horse shows, competitions and countless Dallastown High School field hockey games supporting his granddaughters. A treat of the grandkids visiting was getting to check the candy dish, which was always stocked. He loved all of his pets and grandpets. The dogs of the family quickly learned who to sit by at the dinner table and paused when entering from the outside ensuring their reward for entering the door. The cats of the family always knew there was always the “good food” at grandpap and grandma’s house. In retirement, he enjoyed yard work with his tractor. His cherished neighbors gave him an excuse to extend his precious tractor time while they allowed him to work in their yards as well. Harold is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Ann Cernuska Lambert; brother, Charles Lambert of Lancaster, Pa.; brother, James Lambert of Lititz, Pa.; daughters, Beth Maloney (Mike) of Red Lion, Pa., Barbara Gruber (Dave) of Centreville, Va.; son, Harold D Lambert of Claymont, Del.; two granddaughters, Grace Bachism (fiancé, Shane Walmer) and Hannah Bachism; three grandsons, Jared Gruber, Joseph Gruber (fiancé Kerri Lawlor) and Jacob Gruber; and many nieces and nephews. A heartfelt thank you to all of the caregivers at ProMedica Hospice / Heartland, who were truly a blessing to all of us. Following cremation there will be a celebration of life in the future.
