John F. Polefko – New Eagle

John F. Polefko, 76, of New Eagle, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born Aug. 21, 1945, in Homestead, the son of Joseph and Helen Pall Polefko. For most of his life, John was a truck driver working both out of state and locally, mainly hauling coal. John loved gardening, working on cars, shooting pool and playing the pinball machines. In his younger years, he liked to go dancing. He was a true nature lover and enjoyed the outdoors and taking walks with his dogs. He is survived his son, John P. Polefko and wife Shauna of Monongahela; daughter, Kim Smith and husband Chuck of Elizabeth; three grandchildren, Charles “CJ” Smith and wife Katlin, Kayla Giannuzzi and husband Andrew, John W. Polefko; two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Bailey Smith; former wife, Barbara Bishop of Monongahela; four sisters, Mary Louise Shimel, Rose Marie Pawlowski, Shirley Breitkreutz, Helen “Margie” Polefko; and two brothers, James and Joseph Polefko. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Yurick, Geraldine Jacko and Alice Nimrichter. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where a blessing service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating.
