Rose Janus, 99, of Monessen, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at Jefferson Medical Center. She was born on Dec. 26, 1921, in Monessen and was the daughter of the late Nicholos and Roselia Evanichko Dacko. As a young girl, she worked summers at her father’s fruit and vegetable stand in Perryopolis. During World War II, she worked at the U.S. Steel Christy Park Works. She then worked as a nurse’s aide at Charleroi-Monessen Hospital and later obtained a beautician’s license, founding her own beauty shop, the Rose Janus Beauty Shop, located in Monessen. She loved cooking, baking and working outside in her flower gardens, and was active in her church and with church activities. Rose is survived by her two sons, Paul (Karen) Janus of Whitehall and Gregory (Yvonne) Janus of Monessen; four grandchildren, Michael (Erin) Janus of Bethel Park, Michelle (Ken) Williams of Baldwin, Gregory Janus of Monessen and Mathew (Jacqueline) Janus of Monessen; and six great-grandchildren, Zach, Brandon and Lily Janus, Paige and Blake Williams and Gage Hatton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Janus; son, Bruce D. Janus; two sisters, Mary Hice and Ann Moore; and six brothers, Charles Dacko, Peter, Stephen, John, Joseph and Michael Dutchko. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Resurrection Church, 222 Mary St., Belle Vernon, PA 15012 with Father Stephen Gresh officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends and family who are attending the funeral service are asked to please meet at Holy Resurrection Church for the funeral services. The family kindly asks that everyone attending visitation and or the funeral service please wear a face covering mask. Parastas services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday.
