Raven William Anderson – Monessen

By obits

Raven William Anderson, 58, of Monessen, transitioned peacefully at home on Sunday in Monessen after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on June 14, 1963, in North Charleroi, son of the late Emanuel Anderson Sr. and Thelma Chapman Anderson. He was a member of Gate of Heaven Church of God in Christ. He was a very active member within the church, serving as a deacon. He also spread his praises for God through his voice, not only as a member of the church choir but also as a soloist. Raven was active with the youth in the community, working in the church as a Vacation Bible Study teacher and as a chaperone for many outings to various sporting and cultural events in Pittsburgh. Raven was a 1983 graduate of Monessen High School. He worked as an exhaust floor operator for the former Koppers, ArcelorMittal and now Cleveland Cliffs Mill in Monessen and served as the grievance representative for his local of the United Steelworkers of America. He was considered by many as one of the hardest workers that they know. He was skilled in many trades, and he has worked hard doing many projects in the church along with helping many in the community with any maintenance issues that they may have, especially helping the elderly and widows. Surviving are his wife, Jessica Whiteside Anderson; two daughters, Ta’Nesha (Tarelle) Irwin of Monessen and Raven J. Anderson of Monessen; two stepsons, Matthew Keith of Panama City, Fla., and Ray Keith of North Charleroi; brother, Roscoe D. Anderson of North Charleroi; two sisters, Carol Ann Steed of San Jose, Calif., and JoAnn (David) Smith of Uniontown; grandchildren, Alaya, Tahja, Jadynn, Faith, Talon, Brennan, Treysen and Trinity; a special goddaughter, Monet Wade; and many other godchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, at Gate of Heaven Church of God in Christ, 644 Reed Ave., Monessen. Services will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, beginning with a visitation in the church and a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William C. Bass officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family kindly asks that all who attend visitation and or the funeral service please wear a face mask. Also, if you plan on sending food, please take it to the church between 10 a.m. and noon Thursday. Arrangements entrusted to DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC.
