David L. Calcek Sr. – Charleroi

David L. Calcek Sr., 82, of Charleroi, was called to the Lord on Oct. 22, 2021. He was born on July 30, 1939, the son of the late George and Mary Kudlac Calcek. David was a graduate of Charleroi High School. He went to Purdue University and was an instructor for Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 354. David served in the National Guard and was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Charleroi Sportsman’s Club, 10th Street A.C. and the Charleroi American Legion. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed being at Camp Goodtimes, spending time with his family, gardening and wood splitting. In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by a brother, William Calcek; and three sisters, Jean Yuhasz, Catherine Weight and Helen Geho. David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marlene Bednar Calcek; his children, Barb (Mark) Wyvratt, David (Sue) Calcek Jr. and George (Kelly) Calcek; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Edward Calcek, Charles Calcek and Joseph Calcek; and four sisters, Margaret Collins, Rose Prewett, Jane Malmgren and Donna Caruso. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Charleroi, with interment following in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
