Elaine P. Weiss, 87, of Dunlevy, passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 19, 2021. The daughter of the late Thomas and Sophie Oleksak Peake, Elaine was born in Charleroi on Aug.18, 1934. A graduate of Charleroi High School, Class of 1953, Elaine worked for Bell Telephone and was a licensed cosmetologist. For 35 years, she volunteered for the MVH Auxiliary as craft chairwoman, FCSLA (First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association), Christian Mothers and Rosary Maker and was a devout member of Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish, Charleroi campus. Elaine is survived by her loving husband, Thomas P. Weiss, with whom she celebrated 66 years of marriage on Aug. 6, 2021; daughters, Nancy (Rob) Bernstein and Eileen (Matt) Claybaugh; and her granddaughters, Brittany and Maria Claybaugh. In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her son, Sergeant Thomas P. Weiss Jr.; and her brother, Thomas Peake. Friends and family will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday Oct. 22, 2021, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC. (formerly Schrock- Hogan Funeral Home), 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at St. Andrew Apostle Parish, Charleroi campus, Seventh Street and Washington Avenue, Charleroi. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, donations can be made at www.stjude.org.
