Saundra Mains Grimsley, 70, of Daytona Beach, Fla., passed away suddenly on July 4, 2020. Saundra was born in McKeesport on Oct. 20, 1949, daughter of Vervaine “Vickie” and the late Walter G. Mains. She attended several elementary schools in the McKeesport area and three years at Elizabeth Forward High School. Her fourth year, she transferred to McKeesport Vocational High School to study cosmetology. She graduated as secretary of the McKeesport Vocational High School Class of 1967. She worked locally as a cosmetologist. Saundra met Charles Grimsley of the state of California at a summer resort at Lake George, N.Y., in 1969. They were married on June 27, 1970, in Tabor Lutheran Church of McKeesport. They moved to Tallahassee, Fla., in 1972, where Saundra opened her own beauty shop called Hair Unlimited. She enrolled in Tallahassee Community College and received an Associate of Arts degree. She transferred to Florida State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Having retired from the beauty business, she worked in the offices of entrepreneurs Steve Simon and Helen Porter in Miami until her retirement. Saundra enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for her elderly neighbors and entertaining visiting family and friends and was always a Steelers fan.
