Ronald “RJ” Jones, 71, of Monongahela, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021, at his home after a brief illness. Born June 21, 1950, in Monongahela, he was the son of the late Edward “Pal” and Almeda Jones. After his graduation in 1968 from Monongahela High School, RJ earned his bachelor’s degree from California University, then served two years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He enjoyed watching Penn State football and all the Pittsburgh sports teams. A member of Grace Lutheran Church in Monongahela, he worked construction for many years and was a member of the Hoot Owls, Haymakers and American Legion Post No. 949 in Carroll Township. Surviving are, his wife, Linda Ghilani Jones, whom he married in 1986; four daughters, Christy (Ron) Bilo of Medford, N.J.; Carrie (Joe) Pansino of Rostraver Township; Amber (Angelo) Gioia of Stillwater, Pa., and Kelley Jones, Ph.D. (Blake McNeill) of Durham, N.C.; a brother, Douglas Jones (Sheila Dague) of Florida; seven grandchildren, Cameron and Millen Mowry, Madison and Haley Bilo, Vincenzio and Mary Christine Pansino and Kaia Gioia; along with numerous good friends and family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, where funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, with Pastor Matthew Stabe officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township.
