Betty C. Prihode Vrable, 91, of Donora, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born on July 14, 1930, daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Hobaugh Prihode. Betty was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. For many years she and her husband, Francis, volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and were both avid bowlers. Mrs. Vrable was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister and friend who went above and beyond for her family and always made it a point to be present and expressed her love. Betty will forever be appreciated by her family for making her house a home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Francis M. “Drake” Vrable, on Aug. 4, 2005; a daughter in-law, Connie Vrable; three sisters, Irene Crompton, Margaret Pepka and Dorothy Elkin; and a brother, Richard Prihode. Betty was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving to cherish her memory are a daughter, Sharon (Terri Carlton) Vrable of Butler, Pa.; two sons, Dr. Richard F. (Mary Ellen) Vrable of Medina, Ohio, and Patrick Vrable of South Park; four grandchildren, Thomas Matsick, Brandon (Laura) Vrable, Kim (Jason Roberts) Vrable and Jason (Jill) Vrable; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Tom for taking such good care of your grandmother and a special thank you to her caregivers, Debbie, Jackie and Trudy, for the love and care they showed our mom over the years. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Carroll Township/Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021.
