Jan Rae Hickman – Celebration, Fla., Formerly of Roscoe

By obits

Jan Rae Hickman (née Price), 54, passed away Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, in Celebration, Fla., after a long battle with health issues. Jan was born in Char- leroi in 1967 and was a resident of Roscoe, where she was raised by her loving mother, Trudy Berletich, alongside her grandparents, Paul and Grace Popson. She was a graduate of Belle Vernon High School, a proud member of the class of 1985. Jan married John Hickman, her best friend and husband of 32 years, in 1989, and their love for each other was rivaled only by their love of cooking — something they cherished doing together. They had three daughters and raising them was her proudest accomplishment (along with her ability to host a superb tailgate). Jan was a faithful fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers (even when they let her down) and almost never missed a game. In her final years, she loved spending time at Walt Disney World with her “peanut,” her granddaughter, Callie, who was the light of her life. Jan was an empathetic and loving person who touched the lives of so many. Her door was always open to anyone who needed it and she was always willing to lend a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear. Jan is survived by her husband, John, her three daughters, Leandra (Seth) Clovis, Brittany and Kasey; her mother, Trudy Berletich; her brother, Robert Berletich (Renah LeJohn); her mother-in-law, Wanda Hickman; and her granddaughter, Callie Clovis. She is also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Grace and Paul Popson; her uncle, Robert Popson; her father-in-law, Paul Hickman and her spoiled dogs, Max and Tucker. She will be missed dearly by those who love her. A Celebration of Life memorial will take place at 1 p.m. Nov. 13, 2021, at United Christian Church in California, Pa. In remembrance of Jan’s life, the family asks any charitable donations be made in her memory to Make-A-Wish Greater PA and WV, 707 Grant St., 37th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 or greaterpawv.wish.org. The family wishes to thank the amazing nurses, doctors and staff at AdventHealth in Florida who took wonderful care of Jan.
