John P. Poziviak – Dunlevy

John P. Poziviak, 71, of Dunlevy, passed away peacefully on Oct. 3, 2021, atPenn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. Born on Dec. 27, 1949, in Monongahela, he is the son of the late Michael and Elizabeth Savel Poziviak. Following high school, John worked as coal miner in Eighty Four until his retirement after 35 years. A member of First Christian Church of Charleroi, John was a lifelong member of the Lock 4 Volunteer Fire Company and the Elrama Volunteer Fire Company of Union Township. He served on North Charleroi Borough Council for eight years and was a previous participant and member of Toast To Our Stars of North Charleroi (T.T.O.S). He enjoyed playing bingo with his wife, Karen, fishing, golfing and he was the Monessen Police prison cell guard when called upon. John’s true passion was spending time with his family, being a loving dad and grand-pap to his children and grandchildren. Surviving to cherish John’s memory are his wife of 16 years, Karen Hess Poziviak; his son, Russell (Danielle) Poziviak of St. Clairsville, Ohio; his daughter, Raenelle (Brian) Franklin of North Charleroi; his step-son, Michael Dzonko of Stockdale; his brother, Michael Poziviak (wife Judy) of Dublin, Ohio; his grandchildren, Addyson Poziviak, Braylynn Franklin, Olivia and Evan Poziviak and Micah Dzonko; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Brown; sister, Betty Holt; and his stepson, Eric Dzonko. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021, at SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, with Pastor Charles Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Monongahela Cemetery.
