Patricia Ann McFaddin – California, Pa.

By obits

Patricia Ann McFaddin, 79, born on June 6, 1942, passed away at her home in California, Pa., on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021. She was with her children and grandchildren, who gathered around her in prayer and sang her to a peaceful rest. She suffered post-surgery complications, which led to the discovery of pancreatic cancer that ultimately took her life. Patty, as most called her, was first and foremost a mom and a grandma. She found her greatest passion and purpose in caring for her children and grandchildren. Having raised a houseful of seven children, two stepchildren and 17 grandchildren, she was the “cool mom” where all friends loved to gather. A typical Italian mom, many speak most fondly of their greatest memories being around her kitchen table as she dished up comforting meals and served nourishing advice and guidance. Patty always put others before herself — her greatest joy and pride was watching others’ successes. She attended Monessen High School, started a family and worked as a waitress and cook at various restaurants. In 1989, she earned her certification as a nursing assistant and worked at Monongahela Valley Hospital, where she still had fond memories. Ultimately, her creative mind and innate business acumen drove her to become an entrepreneur as she opened and operated two successful businesses with her late husband, Robert McFaddin. The first we all fondly remember as Pat’s Deli and Restaurant, where locals congregated for her daily specials and memorable stories that kept them coming back. Between 1986 and 2021, she was owner and operator of Pat McFaddin Day Care Center until May 2021, when she retired. She and her staff helped guide many young minds from childhood to young adults. She was referred to as the “working mom’s day care provider” as she always went the extra mile to accommodate those she served and cared for. She is survived by her children Troy (Cindy) Baldwin, Candy (Donnie) Tirpak, Georgette Baldwin, Bob (Kitty) McFaddin, Michele (Scott) Backo, Jill (Bill) Spencer, BJ (Gianna) McFaddin and Susan McFaddin; her nieces, Natalie (Jimmy) Griffith and Lani Duran; and grandchildren to include Blaine, Heather (Jim), Japheth (Amber), Blake, Andrew, Kaylee, Jenna, Robbie, Jordan, Bryce, Joel, Ecko, Taylor, Cecelia, Lillian, Sarah, Olivia; and her longtime companion, Bugsy. She was the daughter of the late John and Martha Galuppo Frow and was predeceased by her husband, Robert McFaddin; her son, Shane Baldwin; and her siblings, Glenda Tomayko and Daniel and Pete Frow. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021, at ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen, Pa. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, in the funeral home with the Rev. Matthew Stabe officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research, 415 Crossways Park Drive, Suite D, Woodbury, NY 11797. Online condolences can be given at www.billicksfuneralhome.com.
