Mary Ann Moon-Carlock – Donora

By obits

Mary Ann Moon-Carlock went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, in Virginia. A lifelong resident of Donora, Mary Ann had recently relocated to Virginia to live with her daughter. A proud member of the Donora High School, Class of 1953, Mary Ann loved her life in the Borough of Donora. She was an avid Steelers fan and on game day, she could be seen proudly wearing her black and gold. Recently, she added Patrick Mahomes to her list of favorite football players. Watching the Steelers and shopping were two of her favorite activities. Mary Ann was always well-dressed, coordinated and sharp! Mary Ann was a member of the Foster Grandparents Program for 20 years and was recognized by Gov. Tom Wolf for her service. The children and teachers of Donora benefited from her desire to work and help and her wisdom and knowledge. A lifetime member of the Whole Truth Church of God in Christ in Donora, where her father, Deacon John Moon Sr., helped introduce Pastor Emeritus Maurice B. Wade Sr., to the people of Donora, Mary Ann was elevated to the position of mother in the church. She served on the Mother’s Board, financial secretary of the Senior Adult Women’s Sunday School class, member of the Women’s Inspirational choir and Usher Board Member. The Youth department and Sunday School benefited financially by her ability to sell more candy bars than anyone else. She loved her church family. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father, John Moon Sr. and her mother, Lelia Preston-Moon; three brothers, James Guyton, John Moon Jr. and William Moon; one sister, Alice Moon-Carlock; a daughter, Mary Louise; and a son, Eugene N. Carlock Jr. Mary Ann is survived by her sibling, Rev. Ronald (Glendel) Moon of Maryland and her sister-in-law, Gloria Moon. In addition, she leaves to mourn her passing three sons, James of Charleroi, John (Kisha) Carlock of Virginia and Mark (Rosanna) Carlock of California; four daughters, Patricia Carlock of Ohio; Cheryl Carlock of Virginia; Anita (Ben) of Virginia and Catherine (Reuben) of Donora; a very good, faithful friend and caretaker, Linda Robinson of Donora; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and her Whole Truth family and friends. A celebration of life and home-going service will be held on Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, with public viewing from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., at the Whole Truth Church of God in Christ, 1004 McKean Ave., Donora. The home-going service will begin promptly at noon with Pastor Maurice B. Wade Jr. officiating. The family has entrusted the care of our loved one to the HOUSE OF LAW INC., 9406 Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235, Dwight Law, funeral director. For the safety of all in attendance and to be in line with CDC guidelines, we request that all in attendance wear a mask for the duration of the service and maintain as much social distancing as possible.
