Marjorie J. Ekin – Gibsonia, formerly of White Oak

Marjorie J. Ekin, 89, of Gibsonia, formerly of White Oak, peacefully passed on Monday, Sept. 27, 2021. She was born in New Castle on May 20, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Elsie Derr. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Sampson’s Mills Presbyterian Church in White Oak. Marjorie loved all Pittsburgh sports, baking and knitting afghans for the Salvation Army. Every year for 30 years, she knitted five afghans for Christmas Salvation Army gifts. Mostly, she loved spending time with her family, especially in the water. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Stewart Ekin of Gibsonia; sons, Albert (Darlene) Ekin of Vacaville, Calif., Stewart (Terri) Ekin of Painesville, Ohio; daughter, Diane Yenerall of Allison Park; nine grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and a sister, Dolores (John) Bales of North Huntingdon. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Charles Derr. Family and friends will gather from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021, at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131, Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177. Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Sampson’s Mills Presbyterian Church, 1665 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Greenock. The family and our team members appreciate that all visitors follow safety guidelines including wearing of masks and social distancing. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding. The family also wants everyone to know that they completely understand if anyone is not comfortable with visiting and paying respects during the pandemic.
