Walter Thomas Meyers – Jefferson Hills, formerly of Elizabeth

Walter Thomas Meyers, 91, of Jefferson Hills, formerly of Elizabeth, passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at home. He was born June 12, 1930, and was the son of the late Amos Elmer and Gladys Cullingford Meyers. He was the loving husband of 63 years to the late Peggy Ann Lloyd Meyers, who passed away in 2016. Walter graduated from Elizabeth High School as valedictorian and obtained a degree in accounting from the College of Holy Cross. He was a member of Bethesda United Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth. He was a U.S. Navy commander who served in the Korean and Vietnam wars and retired after 23 years of service. He worked in mortgage banking after his time in the service and was a classroom aide and mentor for the Elizabeth Forward School District. He is survived by his children, Karen (Fred Fisher) McKee of Julian, Calif., Douglas (Roberta) Meyers of La Mesa, Calif., David Meyers of Texas, Peggy Ann Meyers of Reading, Calif., Walter (Wendy) Meyers of Jefferson Hills, Pa. and 15 grandchildren, Jonathon, Michael, Amanda, Megan, Griffin, Amos, Alita, Aaron, Adelyne, Zachary, Connor, Samantha, Walter III, Jacob and Mackenzie; and numerous great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Craig Thomas Meyers; and siblings, Elmer Meyers, Marilyn Kalanonvicz, Vera Brown, Glenn Meyers and Richard Meyers. Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at the Bethesda United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Walt Pietschmann officiating. Private interment will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethesda United Presbyterian Church, 314 S. 3rd Ave., Elizabeth, PA 15037.
