John Dutchko, age 75, of Elizabeth Township passed away at 1:55 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021, at AGH Jefferson Hospital after a long illness. He was born Nov. 20, 1945, the son of the late John M. and Mary Demcisak Dutchko. He lived in Elizabeth Township for better than 40 years. John was a lifelong parishioner of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Donora. John was a Vietnam veteran, serving from 1965 to 1968, in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW in Perryopolis. He worked at National Tube as a top-rate steam fitter, Fisher Body, Westinghouse Solar Cell Division and Fort C. E. Kelly DOD, as a boiler plant repairman. John loved working as a carpenter, pipe fitter, electrician, mechanic and was extremely handy in doing all home maintenance projects. He especially enjoyed working on his cousin’s Debbie and Bill Mahalko’s farm, as a gardener and farmer. His passions were visiting Gettysburg, Lionel Trains, gardening and farming. He helped everyone who needed it during his lifetime. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Mary and Anne Dutchko; and a brother-in-law James Martz. Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Margaret A. Hudak Dutchko; his loving daughter, Donna M. Dutchko; his brother, Stanley (Judy) Dutchko; a sister-in-law, Nancy Martz; and a brother-in-law, Thomas (Pam) Hudak; a niece, Barbara Demcisak; along with many nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Carroll Township/Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2021. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral liturgy in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church Donora. To be socially responsible during this time of the increase in COVID-19 cases due to the new variants, we will continue to require guests to obey social distancing guidelines and personal protection guidelines which include masks within the funeral home.
