Edward ‘Eddie’ Anthony Shuty Jr. – formerly of Monessen

Edward Anthony Shuty Jr., lovingly known as “Eddie,” passed away on Sept. 9, 2021, in Salisbury, Md., Wicomico County. Born on Aug. 11, 1981, in Carroll Township to Edward Anthony Shuty Sr. and Sharan Boyer Shuty, Eddie was a kind soul with a gentle heart. Tragically, Eddie’s life was cut short after a lengthy battle with COVID-19. Eddie had just celebrated his 40th birthday. Eddie loved life and lived it to the fullest, finding peace in the arts; he loved to play his guitar and spend time drawing and making crafts with his children. Eddie was a family man and had a huge heart from the time he was a little boy. Eddie was an Eagle Scout from Troop 1510 in Monessen and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Eddie went on to find his passion in education because it quenched the thirst he had for knowledge. Always an intellectual, Eddie transformed his passion for knowledge and research into shaping the minds of the younger generation by being not only an educator, but a mentor to his students who loved him dearly. Eddie was always there for those in need and was a faithful and loving husband and father to his sons. Eddie loved the outdoors and recently planned a fishing expedition to Montana with his father, Ed. Most importantly, Eddie loved hard and received the same love in return. His wife, Catrina, would have spent the rest of her life loving Eddie if she could, and he spent the rest of his life loving her. Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Catrina Shuty; their two sons, Preston and Parker Shuty; his mother, Sharan and father, Edward; mother-in-law, Cynthia Jansante Carter; sister, Carly Shuty; brother, Alex Shuty; sister-in-law, Alisha Carter Harris (Kenneth); brother-in-law, Waugh Carter (Sara); favorite aunt and godmother, Ellen Shuty Buchegger;  aunts, Sheila DiBacco and Diana Novoselac; uncle, Joseph Boyer; godfather, Raymond Boyer; nephews, Bentley and Grayson and Maceo Bell; niece, Olivia Harris; and cousins, Calvin and Stephan Buchegger, Kim Santillo, Joseph Boyer Jr., Carrie Smith, Nicole Haddad, Janie Valentine, Amy Werner, Todd DiBacco, Amanda Shovlin and John Novoselac; numerous grand-aunts, grand-uncles, second cousins; and a large circle of friends in both Pennsylvania and Maryland. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Elva Fantauzzi Shuty, Elmer Shuty and Doreen Halpern Shuty; maternal grandparents, Raymond Boyer, Eugene Fox and Margaret Short Boyer Fox; father-in-law, Walter Carter Jr.; aunt, Cynthia Boyer Barto; and uncle, Tony DiBacco. A tree planting memorial will be held in his honor in the near future in the Mon Valley. Donations may be made to the GoFundMe page established in his honor at: www.gofundme.com/f/help-catrina-through-this-tragic-loss.
