Helen Grace Coughanour – Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Rostraver Township

Helen Grace Coughanour, 86, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Rostraver Township, died at her home on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021. Born in Greensburg on Dec. 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ella Bush Tawney. Helen was a retired cafeteria worker for the Belle Vernon Area School District. She was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church, the Rostraver Historical Society and the Belle Vernon Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Rostraver Grange No. 919, where she served as secretary for more than 40 years and held numerous other offices. Helen enjoyed cooking and shopping. She is survived by her son, Ronald R. Coughanour; daughter, Kimberly S. (David) Beechler, both of Port Orange, Fla.; granddaughter, Carolyn N. Martin of Ormond Beach, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Patty Berlin Schimizzi, Donna Tawney Labor, Donald Tawney, Tracy Berlin, David Berlin, Gary Miller, Eric Miller and Arthur Tawney Jr.; and her dear friend, who was like a daughter to her, Sandy Dillon of Belle Vernon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond R. Coughanour; siblings, Arthur Tawney, Jeanne Tawney, Albert Tawney Jr. and Esther Tawney Berlin; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com, where a Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday with Pastor Sandra E. Fitzgibbons officiating. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. After the services, family and friends will gather at Eagle’s Landing Restaurant for a celebration of Helen’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to either Haven Hospice www.beyourhaven.org/donate or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
