Eugene George Fritz Jr., 65, of Greensburg, died suddenly Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021. He was born Sept. 17, 1955, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Eugene George Sr. and Hazel Arbuthnot Fritz. He was a graduate of Monessen High School, Class of 1974. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Peoples Natural Gas for 37 years. He was a member of Harrold Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg. Gene was a proud member and leader with SEIU Local 666 and always had his members back. He was a generous, thoughtful, kind, loving person and was a friend to all. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Andrew and Jean Dyky; and brother-in-law, Robert Smith. He is survived by his wife and love of his life of 43 years, Karen R. Dyky Fritz. They were high school sweethearts and have been together since ninth grade. He is also survived by their son, Brian Fritz and his wife, Rachel, of Greensburg; sister, Penny Smith, of Charleroi; brother-in-law, Bob Dyky, of Monessen; nephew, Jonathan Smith; niece, Haley White (John); great-nephew, Brady Smith; great-niece, Everly White; and numerous cousins and close friends. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, at LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton St., Greensburg. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2021, at Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, 671 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Greensburg, PA 15601, with Pastor James West and Pastor Caroline Clifford co-officiating. Please go directly to the church. Interment will follow in Harrold Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
