Lillian L. Halinka – Monessen

Lillian L. Halinka, 86, of Monessen, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021. A daughter of the late Maynard and Kathryn Rogers Foor, she was born in North Charleroi on Dec. 9, 1934. A resident of Monessen since 1984, Lillian was formerly of Gary, Ind., and in her youth was a member of Lynnwood Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir. She worked for Head Start in Monessen for over 20 years and for Monte’s Restaurant in Charleroi for over 10 years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and baking with her specialty being nut rolls and lady locks. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Ann Griest and boyfriend Gary of Holly Hill, Fla., and Mary C. and husband Dale Hayes of Jeannette; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Robert T. and Terri Halinka of Scottdale, Daniel C. and Tammy Halinka of Monessen, and William C. and Kelly Halinka of Monessen; 11 grandchildren, Robert A. (Jacquie) Halinka, Christopher (Dana) Halinka, Rachel (Ben) Griest, Jerry Jr. (Lindsey) Griest, Travis (Kristy) Griest, Timmy Halinka, Melissa (Christian) Halinka, Hayley (Tommy) Henry, Elizabeth (Keith) Halinka, and D.J. and Samantha Hayes; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Moyer of Nevada; and her beloved dog, Ruby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Halinka, on June 8, 2002; and two brothers, James and Edmund Foor. Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Matthew Stabe officiating. Burial will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park.
