Serra Catholic’s Pharoh Fisher commits to Navy

The United States Naval Academy will soon be home to arguably one of the top defensive backs in the WPIAL.

Serra Catholic standout Pharoh Fisher announced Saturday that he has committed to continue his academic and football careers as a member of the Midshipmen in Annapolis, Md.

Fisher, a 6-2, 182-pound senior, will play for veteran head coach Ken Niumatalolo and defensive coordinator Brian Newberry, all while realizing a childhood dream in the process.

“It’s always been my dream to play Division I football on a national stage,” said Fisher, who garnered additional offers from Army, Air Force, Bowling Green and Columbia.

“Navy has been my top choice for a while now. I just love the history of the program and the visit I took in the summer really solidified my decision. Also, it wasn’t too far from home.”

Fisher is entering his second season playing at Serra Catholic after spending his first two years at Imani Christian.

He said competing at both schools has helped him prepare for what’s to come at the Division I level.

“Beginning at Imani was really good for me. I started corner as a freshman and was able to play really well in the secondary thanks to Rodney Heard, Ronell Heard and (DB trainer) Sean (McCaskill),” Fisher said. “Playing for Serra Catholic under coach Akeeme (Robinson) and coach Chuck (Bradley) put me in a collegiate-like system and really pushed me to develop more into my potential on the field. Several of us could get thrown into a college system right now and fit in perfectly.”
