Eugene ‘Dean’ Revetta – Monongahela

By obits

Eugene “Dean” Revetta, 90, of Monongahela, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021. He was a lifelong resident of Monongahela, born on Sept. 11, 1930, to Andrew and Anna Wilson Revetta. After graduating from Monongahela High School in 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas, at Sheppard Air Force Base. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Frances Jo Ann Gilpin, a union that would span 68 years. Dean was a hardworking, honest man who was devoted to his family, as well as his profession. He was employed as a meat department manager at Payday’s Supermarket in Elizabeth for 23 years. He joined his good friend and longtime grocer, Aldo Bartolotta, in 1977 and remained at Bartolotta’s Fisher Heights location as a manager and in various capacities until his retirement in 2010. His unrivaled work ethic, love of laughter and good-natured personality served him well. It was apparent to anyone who had the good fortune of knowing him; he was well-liked and a friend to all. An avid sports fan, Dean loved spending time with his family and friends, attending Pitt and Steelers football games and watching the Pirates. He was, however, at his best when surrounded by his grandsons. Gifted with children, his sweetness, unlimited patience, childlike demeanor and fantastic sense of humor are what drew little ones to his side for decades. Dean is proceeded in death by his twin brother, Andrew Revetta Jr. He leaves behind his wife, Jo Ann; two daughters, Laurie Parnell of Monongahela and Linda Roman of Venetia; two grandsons Andrew (Jocelyn) Gunia of Bethel Park and Benjamin Roman of Cresson; three great-grandsons, Allen, Quinten and Gordon Gunia; a brother, Frank (Joann) Revetta of Potsdam, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews. A special thank you to our dear friend, Tracey Van Voorhis and the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their support, kindness and compassion during this difficult time. There will be no funeral services, and interment in Monongahela Cemetery will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to a charity of one’s choice. MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, was in charge of the arrangements.
