Edwin Weckoski – Coal Center
Edwin Weckoski, 97, of Coal Center, West Pike Run Township, passed away Sunday evening, Aug. 22, 2021, at Washington Hospital. He was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Coal Center, a son of Joseph and Sophia Duda Weckoski. A veteran, he served during World War II with the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post 22 in Charleroi. Mr. Weckoski retired from the Monessen mill of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, where he was a welder. He was also a member of the Saint Katharine Drexel Parish, Independent Club and Polish Club in Bentleyville and the Cokeburg Moose, L.O.O.M. No. 1625. His wife, Elma Louise Helmken Weckoski, passed away Jan. 10, 2005. Surviving are his sons, John Weckoski and Dave Weckoski (Karen); his grandchildren, Julie Frund (Nathan), Amber Hillmann (Jacob), Brian Weckoski (Sarah) and Jason J. Weckoski (Kelly); great-grandchildren, Grant, Matthew, Clarissa, Phoebe, Charlotte and Hazel; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Weckoski was the last of his immediate family. Deceased are a daughter, Judith Jackson; sisters, Genevieve Ramoski, Alfreda Fuoco and Alice Weckoski; and brothers, Edmund, Mitchell and Albert Weckoski. Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at THOMPSON-MARODI FUNERAL HOME INC., 809 Main St., Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, followed at 10:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian burial at Saint Katharine Drexel, Bentleyville Campus, 126 Church St., Bentleyville, with the Reverend Edward L. Yuhas, pastor, as celebrant. At the church, facial coverings and social distancing are required for those who are not vaccinated. A procession will follow to Sacred Heart Cemetery for the Rite of Committal service and military honors by American Legion Post 22 and the U.S. Army.
