Horse promenade delights spectators in Monongahela

By Stacy Wolford

The Monongahela Main Street Program and SydMor Arena co-sponsored a horse promenade Saturday in downtown Monongahela. The event was inspired by horse parades that were held 25 years ago when rodeos were held at the Park Avenue facility, which was then known as Cox Arena. In those days, the horses would march from Chess Park to the arena.

Sydney Hutton, 12, of Eighty Four and Sarah Sandin of Coal Center walk Charlie through the promenade.

Jasper Gottselig, 4, of Monongahela, rides Ally and Joe Gottselig rides Shorty during a horse promenade in downtown Monongahela on Saturday. The event was sponsored by the Monongahela Main Street Program and SydMor Arena.
