Robert L. Waggett, 72, of Belle Vernon, passed away on Monday, Aug. 16, 2021, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital. A son of the late George and Virginia Peroney Waggett, he was born in North Charleroi on June 6, 1949. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Robert had been employed as a coal miner, retiring in 2013. After retirement, he worked for Royal Hydraulics for several years. Robert enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races with his late wife and sons-in-law. He loved working on cars, most recently restoring a 1957 Chevy. He is survived by two daughters and three sons-in-law, Renee and Scott Kurdilla of Belle Vernon, Bobbi Jo and David Weston of Columbus, Ohio, and Robert Weston of California, Pa.; six grandchildren, Hunter Kurdilla, Kendelle Weston, Kristopher Weston, Kaden Weston, Emerson Weston and Brinley Weston; a brother, Barry Waggett of Belle Vernon; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Franci and John Reed of Lafayette, La., and Sharon and Richard Colaizzi of Peters Township; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanie Waggett, on Sept. 9, 2014; and a daughter, Lisa Weston on Feb. 12, 2015. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at the funeral home with the Rev. Wayne Boring officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
