State Sen. Jim Brewster is trying to bring resources to veterans in the Mon Valley and other parts of his senatorial district.

The Democratic senator from McKeesport recently announced what he is calling a comprehensive new effort to deliver services and support to veterans.

The initiative will provide face-to-face guidance at five locations, supported by U.S. Army Maj. (Ret.) Bill Roland, who is part of Brewster’s staff.

“I am honored to be launching a mobile veterans assistance initiative,” Brewster said.

In the Mon/Yough Valley, there will be locations in White Oak, Clairton and East McKeesport.

At all five locations, veterans and their families will be able to get guidance from Roland and Brewster’s staff for things like filing for federal (Veterans Administration) benefits, signing up for health care, finding housing support, seeking employment or support in the justice system.

Brewster said his staff will be joining forces with Veterans of Foreign Wars, AMVETS National Headquarters and Veterans Leadership Program for this initiative.

“We will have military experts on hand at convenient locations throughout the district to deliver this free service,” Brewster said.
