Robert Stephen ‘Seeds’ Popovic – Port Vue

Robert Stephen “Seeds” Popovic, 83, of Port Vue, died on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021. He was born in Port Vue on May 10, 1938, and is the son of the late Stephen, who died in 1983, and Helen (Tutko) Popovic, who died in April 2021 at the age of 102. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene McConeghy Popovic. He served in the Army post Korean War and was employed by Copperweld and later retired from the Port Authority of Allegheny County. He was a member of Holy Family Polish National Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Port Vue Fire Department, the Port Vue Legion, Liberty Borough Vets Club, Hecla Sportsman Club and South Connellsville Rod & Gun Club. Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was their number one fan at all of their school and sporting events. He is survived by his son, Robert Popovic of Port Vue; his daughter, Michelle (James) Colecchi of Glassport; grandchildren, Clayton and Cameran of Glassport; brothers, David (Caroline) Popovic of Port Vue and Thomas (Virginia) Popovic of Belle Vernon; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Popovic, Adele Popovic and Jill (Joel) Salaske. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent in Robert’s memory to the Smithton Sportsmen’s Club, c/o Striffler Family Funeral Homes, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131. Family and friends will meet Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021, for a noon service at Holy Family Polish National Church, 1921 Eden Park Blvd., McKeesport, PA 15132, with Father Bruce Sleczkowski officiating. A military honors service will follow.
