Richard A. Chaussinand, 89, of Monongahela, Carroll Township, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021, at The Residence at Hilltop. Born Jan. 30, 1932, in Elizabeth, he was the son of Paul A. Sr. and Mary Stirbis Chaussinand. After his graduation in 1949 from Elizabeth High School, he served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Richard returned to Monongahela, where he began working at the former Hillman Barge Lines and eventually started working at SuperValu (formerly Fox Grocery Co., Wetterau Inc.) in Belle Vernon, where he continued working until his retirement in 1994. An avid golfer and bowler, he always was proud of his hole-in-one at the Chippewa Golf Course in Bentleyville. Surviving are his children, Stephanie A. (Bud) Spesak of Monongahela; Daniel L. (Becky) Chaussinand of Roswell, Ga.; Stacey L. (Glenn) Wagner of Forward Township, and Richard A. (LoriAnn) Chaussinand of Irwin; eight grandchildren, Jodi (Eric) Phillippi, Brandon (Lynnae) Wagner, Derek Wagner, Tyler (Lacey) Chaussinand, Joshua Chaussinand, Stephen (Mary Frances) Chaussinand, Danielle Wisely and Carrie Turtzer-Kelley; and six great-grandchildren, Joshua Garber, Olivia and Banks Wisely, Caitlin Kelley and Rita and Roscoe Wagner; and was looking forward to the birth of two more great-grandchildren in the next several months. Preceding him in death were his wife, Shirley J. Chaussinand, who died July 6, 2018; two brothers, Daniel L. and Paul A. Chaussinand Jr.; and three sisters, Hazel Cramer, Emma Raftery and Shirley Pater. Interment was held in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
