Mon City residents could have water service disrupted

By Mon Valley Independent

Some residents in Monongahela could be without water today as emergency repairs are made to a water main in the city.

According to a notice released Monday by Pennsylvania American Water, crews will begin to complete repair work around 8 a.m.

Residents in the affected area could experience discolored or cloudy water, low water pressure or be without water completely until work is done, which is expected to take about eight hours.

After the break is repaired, water could remain cloudy as it is run through the new line.

If residents continue to experience discolored water after 4 p.m., cold water taps should be run at the lowest level of the house for three to five minutes until the water runs clear.

PA American will not provide additional notifications to impacted customers unless more work is needed to complete the repair.

Landlords in the affected area are being instructed by the water company to notify tenants of the repair and possible outage.
