Marjorie Diane Lopez – Belle Vernon

By obits

Marjorie Diane Lopez, 69, of Belle Vernon, passed away peacefully at home on Mon-day, Aug. 9, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 13, 1952, to John C. and Shirley Demko. On June 27, 1970, she married Joseph William Lopez. Marjorie was an active member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and served as a catechism teacher and a member of the funeral choir and the annual Lessons and Carols performed by the Belle Vernon Ministerium made up of several area churches. She eagerly prepared for rehearsals and proudly invited others to attend. She was a member for many years of the Vernon Belles Club, Bunco Club, Meals On Wheels delivery, and the Naomi Outreach. Marjorie was a devoted mother to her children and enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom to them as they grew up. She worked at Et Cetera Gifts & Crafts alongside her mother and aunt, who co-owned the store. Later, she was a hostess at Eat n’ Park and always had a smile for everyone she greeted. Margie enjoyed decorating and made the most beautiful bows! Sewing was her most loved pastime and she was often asked to hem or repair items for her family, which she did happily. Her fondest memories were of all the places she and her husband traveled together, with their favorite being Aruba. Margie was preceded in death by her parents; and her dear husband, Joseph, on March 20, 2018. She is survived by her children, Frank (Kristy) Lopez of Belle Vernon, Laura (Sean) Herron, with whom she recently made her home, of Belle Vernon, and Joseph (Kathryn) Lopez of Charleroi; her grandchildren, Vincenzo Lopez, Grace Lopez, Gianna Lorenzo, Antonio Lorenzo and Santino Lopez; sisters, Mary Ann Demko of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Joni (Gordon) Pavtis of Phoenix, Ariz. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021, at CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, with interment following in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, blankets and chimes, memorial contributions may be made to Westmoreland County Area Agency on Aging (Meals On Wheels), 200 S. Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601. Online condolences may be sent to www.spallinofuneralhome.com.
